An inkjet printable DVD R is a recordable DVD made with an inkjet ink permeable coating on the upper, non-recording surface of the DVD. This coating allows users to print directly onto the media, as opposed to applying an adhesive backed label. Printing of the DVD is normally accomplished by using a special CD/DVD inkjet printer. When inserted into the inkjet printer, the printer is capable of reproducing appropriate text and pictures right onto the media.
Inkjet printable DVD media is a great way to customize DVD-Rs. Often times it is less expensive to buy the inkjet DVD printer than it is to buy both labels and the DVD media without the special coating. Besides, the printer often can be used for printing other types of labels. The printable DVD R media is much easier than carefully positioning a printed label onto the a blank DVD media.
